Whats in the build…
Jumbi comprises a stained birch ply floating record storage, fitted with inlaid up and down lights. The initial idea was to recreate a space that embodies the essence and enables others a critical insight into the cultural relevance of sharing and collecting music in and around the homes of the diaspora. To create a space that was about sharing music on a personal level without indulging in DJ worship culture, yet embodying the comfort of a diasporic home was paramount to this project’s success.
